Q: What is DriverTech's recommendation as far as Hydra or Deutsch cables?
A: DriverTech has always preferred not to use the Deutsch connector cable because of the direct recommendation from all of the OEMs not to permanently connect to the Deutsch connector.
Benefits of each cable:
- Both cables are plug and play cables.
- The Deutsch Y-cable cable is quicker to install by approximately 5 to 15 minutes in most cases but sometimes the Hydra cable is quicker. This directly depends on where the manufacturer put the J1939 connection point in the truck.
- The Hydra cable is a more secure, trustworthy cable that has been tested as the more consistent cable.
- The Hydra cable has 2 connection points to the truck and the Deutsch cable has one.
