Question:

Why does the Personal Use report have instances with 0 miles?

Answer:

There are a few reasons why the personal use report can show instances of personal use with 0 miles recorded.

  • Every time personal use is selected by a driver it must be shown on the driver's logs. Any instance of personal use on a driver's log must be shown in the Personal Use report. This is regardless of whether or not the vehicle moves during this time. The mileage shown in cases such as this will have 0 miles recorded.
  • If a driver enters Personal Use mode, but then turns the truck engine off without moving the truck, the Personal Use event will be ended and the driver will be returned to Off-duty (Normal mode). This will create a Personal Use record on the Personal Use Report with 0 miles recorded.
  • If a driver uses personal use mode, and then moves the vehicle less than one-tenth of a mile, the recorded mileage will be 0. These instances can be coupled with small movements in the GPS location.
