Question: On the E-Logs when drivers do run into a major accident that delays them, how can they notate that on their logs?

Answer:

  1. A driver can enter a “Driving (manual)” status in order to annotate Accidents, Adverse Conditions, etc. If a driver runs into a situation that stops the truck, after 5 minutes of being stopped, the unit will then ask the driver if they are still driving. One minute later, if they do not answer the question, the device will automatically add an On-Duty status to end the driving.
  2. In the situation described above, the driver would want to answer yes, in which the device will automatically create a “Driving (manual)” duty status and keep them on driving until they manually change their status.
